Don't Run from Satan

Fear is not from God. And making decisions (or a lack of a decision) based on fear will ultimately always lead to the wrong choice. We are NOT called to "run" from our problems. Instead, make your problems run from you! God has given us everything we need to make it happen.

"God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind" (2 Tim. 1:7 NKJV). Fear comes from Satan, the father of lies. Satan tries to deceive you by speaking lies to you and forming a "stronghold" in your mind (2 Cor. 10:4-6). To pull down those strongholds, we have been given:

  1. The power of God through the Holy Spirit (and the power of Jesus' name - Mark 16:17)

  2. The perfect love of God inside us (Rom. 5:5) that casts out all fear (1 John 4:18).

  3. The mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16)

  4. The armor of God (Ephesians 6)

"Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you" (James 4:7 emphasis added). YOU are told to resist (or stand against) Satan. In the power of the Holy Spirit, use God's sword (His Word) to rebuke Satan, and he has to flee from you. For example, what if Satan tries to put fear in you that you may not have the money to pay your bills this month? Don't panic and don't worry. Instead, pray and stand on God's promises. As you abide in Christ and have placed scripture in your heart, SPEAK ALOUD this verse from Philippians 4:19: "My God shall supply all my need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus...Satan, I rebuke you in Jesus' name!"

If you are filled with fear, speak: "The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid." (Ps. 118:6)

If you feel like you don't have what it takes to do something, speak: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13)

If Satan tries to hold past sin over your head, speak: "I am the righteousness of God." (2 Corinthians 5:21)

God's Word is full of scripture you can use to make Satan flee. Don't let him place fear, doubt or worry in you. Stand strong in your faith. Continue to put scripture in your heart (memorizing, speaking, and meditating on it) so you will be prepared the next time he tries to lie to you. There is no reason to fear or run when you submit to God!
