Rooted in Love

The roots of some trees can grow more than 20 feet deep. With strong roots systems, trees and plants are firmly established in their fixed positions and able to withstand strong winds.

To be rooted, or firmly established, in the love of God is the only place you will find joy, peace, and your purpose in life. How do you know if you are truly rooted in God's love? You can start by asking yourself these two questions.

1) Do you obey God's Word?

"Whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in Him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked" (1 John 2:5-6 NKJV).

2) How are your relationships with others? (1 John 2:7-11)

How many people in this world do you hate? In the past week, how many times have you gotten into an argument or talked bad about someone? A person reveals the genuineness of his relationship with the Lord by his relationships with others. We must be rooted in the love of God to receive the life-giving "nutrients" we need to prosper and to successfully withstand the storms of life.
